Not Happy
I purchased this combo DVD/VCR player for my exercise tapes, which I use daily, since I have a wide collection of both VHS & DVD’s.

Combo unit’s tuner works fine with my antenna
Ordered this combo unit 3mos ago. Was easy to set up, including the Sony’s auto-scan recognizing all the analog and digital stations’ signals picked up by our antenna.

Problems from day one
My Sony RDRVXD655 was a problem from day one and I haven’t even used it for what was intended-transfering VHS tapes to disc. Using DVD’s, the picture would stop & skip.

Pleased.
I bought this to transfer to DVD all the VHS-C tapes of the kids I’ve accumulated over the years. I have about 70 of those. The Sony is working very well in this process.

Sony RDR-VXD655
I found the product easy to install and setup. The menu screen allowed a scan of off air channels and I was watching HD in just a few minutes.

Great DVD recorder for general use
This DVD recorder does what you expect. Good quality recording to DVD from outside source or VHS tapes.

The 1-button dubbing flaky and video compression inferior
Overall this is a good DVR/VCR combo but it falls short when dubbing large VHS collection to DVDs. If you are dubbing VHS tapes which have a lot of clips or programs recorded on…

Difficult to use remote control for the RDRVXD655
The remote control record operation is a big pain to use. When you think you are recording a particular TV station, you may, in fact, be recording another.
