Only good if you can recycle it
I’m approaching fifty, so I am no novice. I have owned lots of Sony products in my life, but this player is the nadir of my experiences with ALL brands of electronics.

Freezing – Can’t Even Watch a Movie Anymore
When I bought a Sony BDP-S301, I enjoyed it enough to buy another for my other TV. At first, both worked fine, though a little slow to start up or accept an eject command.

Wished I had returned it.
Bought mine in May and have had nothing but problems. The majority of discs won’t play the first time. Very slow loading too.

Refurbished Equipment
I should have sent the unit back. It takes a stpd amount of time (many minutes) to load a disk and often requires the disk to be reloaded several times.

HD is great, player is not
I’ve had this player for about a year now. I get incredibly frustrated almost every time I use it. It takes about 1 minute to start up.

If it’s not Scottish, it’s crap!
Possibly the crappiest Sony product I’ve ever owned! The picture quality is indeed amazing, but the drawbacks to this first generation BD player is that it sucks.

Sony BDP-S300
I have been a dedicated Sony customer, purchasing Sony products for most of my AV requirements. As a rule Sony products are very good performers for the price paid.
