The IDM-830 has an 8-inch active matrix LCD screen and S-video and composite A/V outputs so you can connect it to your home theater system. In addition to playing DVD movies and CD audio, the IDM-830 is compatible with DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, and Kodak Picture disc formats and MP3 and JPEG digital file formats. It features two built-in stereo speakers and a headphone jack, and it also provides Dolby Digital and DTS compatibility and an optical digital audio output. The IDM-830 features multi-aspect ratio playback capability (4:3 pan/scan, 4:3 letterbox, and 16:9 widescreen) and multi-angle viewing capability. It has a unique features that can zoom multimedia playback 2x, 3x, or 4x the original size (or shrink it by 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 the size). Other DVD playback features include frame by frame, shuffle/program, and reverse/forward speeds up to 32x. It’s powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (with 2-hour video playback or 4-hour audio playback) or the AC adapter. Good feature and initial quality for the price
I just owned this unit for a few days so I am unable to judge its long term reliability. I had one glitch right out of the box: the LCD screen was completely dark!

Horrible DVD Player
I purchased the 853, it’s the same unit with an 8.5 inch screen. The first unit I purchased had bright red pixels all over.

Product was defective – had to return
This player did not work. The screen went totally black within 10 seconds after putting the first dvd in it. It had sound, but no picture whatsoever.

Gone through 4 in 10 months
This is the worst electronic product I have ever purchased. Returned once to store, then the next three times to the company due to black and white bars at the top of the screen…

DVD Addict
Player worked fine the first couple of movies and then, the multiple notorious white bars across the top of the screen appear.
